ISO/TS 16949 is a global standard integrating Europe with America as an automotive quality assurance system standard joint developed by ISO and IATF(The international Automotive Task Force)

The purpose of ISO/TS 16949 is that international auto makers such as BMW, Fiat, Peugeot-Citroen, Renault SA, Volkswagen based on America and Europe, and their federation(AIAG of America, VDA of Germany, ANFIA of Italy, FIEV of France and SMMT of England are to supply the best service to the customer with extension of supplier's range through consistent quality system and the minimum of time and cost of all over the world suppliers from too many certifications such as QS-9000 of America, VDA 6.1 of Germany, EAQF of France and AVSQ of Italy.

It is believed that ISO/TS 16949 will be replaced instead of QS 9000, also American automotive Big3 are strongly recommending the certification of ISO/TS 16949 as a global standard.

ISO/TS 16949 applies QS 9000 applies to internal and external suppliers who directly supply production materials / production or service parts or / heat treatment, painting, plating or other completion service to the OEM.

Through introduction of ISO/TS 16949, following effects are expected.

- Quality improvement of product and process
- Secureness of confidence in international trade
- For quality improvement, redistribution of resources
- Maintenance of common approach and consistency in supply system
   between supplier and subcontractor.
- In automotive industry, satisfaction of customer's requirements through
  single audit of a company that deals with Europe and America.
